Verizon's FiOS and Major League Baseball

Major League Baseball will be expanding the channel's launch to 50 million homes as MLB recently reached an agreement to carry the network on Verizon FiOS. Verizon FiOS will also carry the Extra Innings Package and is set to launch Jan 1, 2009.

The MLB Network airs live games and highlights, classic games, and coverage of baseball events, and is expected to be available across the country, and signifies the largest launch in cable history. The MLB Extra Innings package on Verizon FiOS TV will offer baseball fans up to 80 out-of-market Major League Baseball games per week.

Verizon FiOS is the nation's fastest growing television service provider and host of FiOS TV, which covers the country's most advanced fiber-optic network straight to customers' homes and businesses. Verizon's FiOS TV service was selected as the top-ranked residential television service provider in the Northeast by J.D. Power for 2008. Verizon FiOS TV is currently available to more than 8 million homes in 14 states: California, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
