Verizon FiOS TV Enhancements

Verizon FiOS showed me a new version of Verizon FiOS TV that will start rolling out to customers pretty soon now, and hitting everyone by end of this year. It features a set that rivals AT&T's U-Verse, including interactive content, PC connectivity, RSS feeds, even the ability to see what your neighbors are watching in realtime.

Verizon FiOS TV, as you probably know, is Verizon's fiber optic television service which is taking over New York City. Version 1.5 was about meeting regulatory specifications, so they will now be adding the big features.

Verizon FiOS 1.6 adds in RSS feeds from content partners, providing live info like traffic, weather and horoscopes. Unfortunately, right now, you can't add in your own feeds, but this will probably be added in the future. Starting with 1.6, you'll be able to stream two HD streams to multiple rooms in the house, even with the current boxes. The fact that most of this stuff will be in people's houses by the end of this year seems to put Verizon FiOS with features hard to beat.
