When you talk about quality i must agree. But there is also a benefit which i noticed and that is the disturbance caused by weather. Last winter i found that my satelite reception was nil, untill i had to trudge outdoors and brush the snow that had collected on my dish. Reception returned for 10 mins untill it started to stutter again. Have found similar experiences with very heavy rain. So i think i shall definately be looking into the fibre optic solution you talk about.

I must admit that the FIOS TV service is absolutely stunning. I have had cable for years and didn’t realize how much better TV could be. I went to a friend’s house to watch the football game on Sunday and was amazed at the quality of the picture and sound. He told me he had recently upgraded to FIOS and loves it. I think I'm going to look at upgrading to FIOS service for my house.

Verizon is really kicking butt! I can't wait for this to come to my area. I have Qwest right now with DirecTV and it's *okay*, but Verizon seems to be on the cutting edge.

Qwest just switched their cell phone partner from Sprint to Verizon and dropped their own TV service, so I'm wondering if they'll pick up the FIOS service sometime in the near future. Fingers crossed.
